Finally got around to playing this game

I'm not really big on WWII games, but my room mate got it and I loved COD4 so much that I finally played through at least 1 prestige of WaW.

Here's what I found personally. The game itself is ok. Co-op is one of the coolest things they ever came out with. I like that.

Having said that, multi-player sucks. I'm guessing they hired some high-school drop out with a GED to program the multi-player for this game.

First and foremost, the glitches (the ones that allow people to get under the maps and take free kills). They're not cool, neat, interesting, or even remotely awesome. This is nothing more than really crappy programming on the part of Trey-Arch. I don't know who they hired to write this game, but they need to be drug-tested and/or fired. And to anyone who has to use these glitches to win... you need to hang up the game. If you have to cheat to win, you suck at this game worse than noobs do. Everyone you kill while under the map understands that you suck so bad you have to cheat... but your still ticking them off.

Second, is the crappy hit detection. I give it ... 70/30 odds that even if you're dead on your target, you MIGHT actually hit them. And no, it's not my connection, I get 10megs a second download and 1 meg a second upload with a 40ms ping using digital broadband.

Third, are the annoying little things like getting caught on stupid stuff or stuff that isn't even there but you can't move anyways, because your caught on it, whatever it happens to be. That's crap. Also, and maybe the programmer amused himself with this one... is half the time when you respawn, your facing a wall and pointing towards the sky. That's crap too... not even remotely amusing.

Then there's second chance. I quite using it several times after it started getting "stuck". The first time I could only move up and down in Second Chance, and couldn't move left to right. Tried restarting, etc.. no luck. came back a few days later and it worked ok for a while then it wouldn't let me turn left.

I used to be a pro at knifing dogs. I never got caught by dogs, in fact I often slaughtered the whole pack as they were coming out onto the map. Not anymore... even though I'm knifing them right on, shooting them right on, they slip right past me and kill me. G-A-R-B-A-G-E

One more thing... when I'm rocking the PPSH and firing from the hip, and I come across a guy rocking a HANDGUN, and he kills me even though I fired right on him first? I don't think so. More crap.

I would say that it's nice that they put in host migration into this game, but Trey-Arch F***ed that up too (surprise surprise).

My final verdict... I'm glad my room mate wasted his money on this piece of garbage and not me.

Trey-Arch... you need to stick to whatever it was you were doing before you came in and completely screwed the pooch with COD.

When did you notice the knifing thing? Because for the last few days ive been trying to figure out if im suddenly missing something with knifing, because half the time my knife doesnt kill people anymore. Its very annoying when you're right next to someone and your knife misses, so you back up to shoot them and then they knife you from 6 feet away, and i certainly dont remember it happening other than the last week or so.

Wow dude calm down WaW is a great game yeah it has those stupid glitches but soon enough there will be a patch to fix it. If you were never a fan WWII what would make you think WaW will convince you?

weve all been there and it sucks, a few things to help out , skipping a map shows what your ping is to the host of the game,if it takes 3 seconds to register just back out. another thing i noticed if you are using a router dont! my ps3 is wired from our wireless router so its a hardline, but if i disconect the router it makes a world of difference even though im wired through it, go straight too the playstaton with your connection. this game has horrible host problems regardless though, the thing that pisses me off most is when ure playing against people that u have annihilated many times before but they com in as host and demolish your team and talk trash like they are a talent at the game. anyway good luck

you know, lol, I really didn't mean for that post to be a rant, but after re-reading it... yea , it looks like a serious head-throbbing rant doesn't it.

Yes, I'm irritated at the quality of the game, but I'm not bent out of shape over it. Life's too short, it's just a crappy game (well, the multi-player is, the game and co-op parts are pretty cool).

I'm not really sure when the knifing thing started, Dave. Maybe a few weeks ago. It just kinda snuck up on me and got progressively worse.

killiansphish, I know what you mean about the router. My room mate and I have 2 PS3's and so hence the router, and I noticed better gaming quality online with COD4 if I kept it hardwired to the router, or by-passed the router all-together and hooked it straight to the modem. I like the tip with the map skipping thing (ping)... I'll keep that in mind if I play it again (I might, but right now I'm just seriously disgusted with the whole thing).

I also prefer hosting for that reason, I'll join/leave join/leave until I get my own lobby ussually. And I don't quit games if I start getting my ass handed to me... I love challenges and don't mind losing.
