    If you are doing this from a server point of view you need to do the following:

    1) Create a folder in the root called "usermaps" (same level as the Main folder)

    2) Create a folder for each of the maps with the folder named as the map is - e.g. mp_matmata then copy all of the files out of the Zip into the folder (unless the Map Readme states overwise)

    3) Unless you want people to download the 20mb+ maps at 12kbs you need to set up a HTTP redirect location, you can do this using the following in your server config file:

    //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
    //Download Redirect

    set sv_allowdownload "1"
    seta sv_wwwDownload "1"
    seta sv_wwwBaseURL "http://ServerURL/Folder/"
    seta sv_wwwDlDisconnected "0"

    Files/Folders has to mirror the game server - so in the usermaps folder

    4) Then just pop the mapname into your config file. The Modwarfare mod wont run maps properly (it hangs) you need another mod like AWE4 or the like to run Custom Maps properly.

    Or if you just want to try them on your PC, you can follow parts 1 & 2, then create a listen server and swap to the map via the command line (read part 4 though)

    I hope this helps, we have tried custom maps, some are good, some are really poor, and some are a real pig to get working but this is the way forward once IW stops patching the game...

    sorry I am still confused

    what I did was I created a folder call usermaps in

    C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare

    then where do I put the folder call MP_mapname ?

    and where is the config file that I need to edit ?

    I didn't see it here, but to run the map you got to use the console and write /map mp_mapnamehere

    Wasn't that easy to figure it out and I was wondering if is there a way to put custom maps in teh list with the official maps...

    I downloaded the AWE4 mod just to test the maps cause I couldn't figure out a way to run the maps without a mod...is there such a way? cause I'm really not interested in playing with a mod...I just wan't new maps.
    Also, anyone knows where do I get those maps that appear in the list when you install AWE4?

    I don't think that custom maps can be playable without mods. At least, I don't find the way yet. But if you want to play with mods, you will find the detailed instruction here...

    I already installed in this way and successfully played in custom maps...

    Well, can you play the custom maps with any mod or does it have to be ModWarfare? I am finding out that ModWarfare is the only mod that will run custom maps, and you can only spectate, so I can't even really check the map out.
