Prestige 10
There is someone in Germany who believes in a "basic living wage." Unlike minimum wage, this is a basic salary that all people would be paid throughout their lives, regardless of whether or not they are employed, and regardless of how much they make if they do work.
Regardless of what I think of them, such wild suggestions are an interesting way to break the monotony we have over here.
The way the American political system works, the rhetoric is such that it sounds like we have an epic battle for life and death and between good and evil, but the practical spectrum is very narrow, since we'll never have a President that'll make Christianity mandatory or one that will take over all industry and introduce a centrally planned economy.
Mélenchon. He essentially talks like a communist from the 20s (no exaggeration here, he really does). The problem is that he strangely radicalized himself in the last years, as he was also feeding in the state-money-buffet along with those mainstream socialists... The other problem is that he is quite charismatic and excellent against the media (he demolishes journalists after journalists). He is very bright, but acts as if he is the only gifted person, so he looks a bit like the childish gifted kid... The 100% tax above 300000-500000 Euros/year is likely a stunt. France is in a state where her elites are completely worthless. Such a measure would scare any regular american, but in France, in means that some people will finally suffer.
He might end up as a minister for Hollande (the socialist candidate, the Great Void in person). Hollande's similar 75% tax proposal is likely a stunt, this guy have too many rich buddies to pass such a law...
As for Marine Le Pen, she's right about immigration, but acts as if she has this magical wand which will take France out of its current financial crisis... Also, there is so much political correctness and criminalization of her party in the media (since it discusses immigration) that most Frenchmen can't even allow themselves to think about voting for her. She wants to take France out of the European Union (in the long term) which is the most important thing to do. I agree with 75% of her program, the problem is that she is not that much of a great statesman (...women...?).
Finally, Sarkozy serves financial interests, without trying to hide it much. Rotten filth like never before.
Ahhh France, get De Gaulle or GTFO.
Posting pictures of Obama as a Socialist just means you like to stir up trouble, it would be like me posting pictures of Bush as a Fascist.. I think that Romney could be a good president if he becomes Governor Romney, kinda how like I think Obama would be a good president if he was Candidate Obama instead of President Obama. And finally, posting quotes by a racist just makes you look stupid (even when we all know you're highly intelligent.). So I can't see you as a "fucking moron". Of course I could be cherry picking quotes just like conservatives pick quotes of the left and run with it until the good name of someone is tarnished beyond belief.
Before you get angry and start insulting me because you think I'm a liberal because I assume all conservatives are racist or stupid, let me remind you that I am not a Liberal. I am 100% fiscally conservative, but very very very left on social matters. So that makes me a Progressive.
It's a shame, really.
Any American politician advocating some of those principles would be committing political suicide, no matter how far to the left they are.
France just hasn't been the same since the 1790's, has it?.
Buckley Jr. is a racist?
And you are no Progressive, she is Progressive:

Au contraire!
They never really changed until the 1970s. The French are quite elitist even if they tend to look like egalitarian fanatics. They can in fact vote socialist yet spend their whole lives trying to get that luxury car or a Rolex...
In other words, having money is suspicious (Catholic morality), yet they don't want to be governed by "anybody". They sort of want this "Republican Monarch" at the head of the state. They want rich and classy elites... even if they don't trust them... Not a simple country...
The townhall format of US politics would be pointless there. However, acting like a prince in front of the media is the thing to do... acting too friendly is insta-political-death.
Most of their media/political elites are rotten to the core. The present day connections between politicians, bureaucrats and journalists are ridiculous. The proportion of journalists either married with politicians or bureaucrats (renewing their contracts) is indecent. The contemporary Frenchman probably lives in a public space as occupied by propaganda as in the Soviet Union (minus the Gulags)... For example, if some Arab thug kills a grandma in the metro, the media will change his name so that it sounds like a "home-grown" french one, in case one would have the "bad" idea to make the link between immigration and security issues... Political polls are rigged beyond belief... Etc...
I'm probably the greatest revolution-wary person around, but it looks like France needs to get some heads rollin' again...
No wonder everyone hates the French.
off to go yell at some desk bitch to give me my $700 back

France and French, two very different things.
