Default The most fun Call of Duty?

Which game in the Call of Duty do you find the most fun? I'm not asking about which one is the best in terms of balance, features, and so forth, but which one has provided you with the most fun?

    I'll pick Modern Warfare 2.

You could argue that Treyarch do a number of things better than Infinity Ward, but I can't help but think of Modern Warfare when I think Call of Duty.

You could also analyze certain aspects of each game, like CoD4 having the best perk system, nobody ever camping for kill streaks in CoD4, MW3 having the best weapon variety in my opinion, or MW3 being the least explosive friendly, and as you can see by the examples, CoD4 and MW3 would probably defeat MW2 in most areas.

But, dammit, when I was in a good lobby where people weren't camping and/or OMA/DC tubing, then MW2 was the most fun on a consistent basis that I've had in CoD, and I've now played everything but CoD2 and CoD3.

I'm not even quite sure what it is. There is a certain beauty in the simplicity of CoD4, MW3 has attempted to fix some of the problems that MW2 introduced, and I've got good things to say about World at War and Black Ops, but strictly going by the adrenaline rush and the pride in the good results: MW2 wins for me.

    I'd concur.

MW2 was indeed exciting, and was full of potential until players began to exploit cheap tactics that came with the drastic changes made between COD4 and MW2.

EDIT: The reason why I'd prefer to play COD4 if it wasn't hacked to shit is because there is very little to exploit in COD4.
Most features came with their negative aspects.

Sure you can have your noobtube. But you forfeit Tier 1 entirely.
Want to be invisible from the radar? Forfeit Stopping Power.

Imagine if there was never an Infinity Ward crisis in 2010-2011. Imagine if none of the original staff had quit.
What are the chances that we would have actually seen some patches, instead of being abandoned.
How different would have MW3 been?

WM3. Strictly because I never played Drop Zone before and I find it addicting. And most of my friends play the same mode so that makes it cool.

    MW2

Because I ****ing re-bought it again and I never buy the same game twice. That’s how much I love MW2. It has the magic of having sex with a pig. It stinks but, if you close your eyes, it is the best fun you will ever have. [WTF is wrong with me?]

700 hours of playing time, motherfuckers.

    I'll pick Modern Warfare 2.
    +1.

Shotguns were actually good, explosives didn't eat a double/triple nerf (though they needed a single nerf), most of the guns were good and differentiated themselves.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, however, MW2 was the last time a call of duty game opted to use halfway competent net code.

The only thing holding MW3 back is the maps and the net code, but the vast majority of it is net code. Between chucking people into 125+ ms ping games, firing enough to kill someone twice over then discovering you've never fired a shot, and host migration failure disgrace mw3 just can't hack it no matter how many neat bells and whistles they did with proficiencies and perks.

Mix some stopping power into mw3 perk list, give us back mw2 maps and net code, let explosives be good (but counterable, IE blast shield actually works unlike mw2) and we'd have an excellent entry in the series. Comically, the super nerf on the toobs made blast shield far less relevant. If people died to toobs there would be less assassin. If people had stopping power there would be less assassin.

The final thing would then be to nerf the UAV because it's still the best killstreak in the game and it always has been .

But as for OP point? MW2 has the best mix of features for the game to be fun.

Based on this my answer would be WaW because I have purchased it twice. But that aside I still would pick WaW, that game was just so much freaking fun to me, every time I play a match nowadays I get this smile on my face and just a good feeling inside (weird I know). Something about that game just brings back fond memories for me. Remembering the best spots to place betties, best strategies for each map, camping spots where everyone flocks too (the balcony on Dome, the porch thing on Courtyard), ah good stuff. The guitar hero franchise aside, there hasn't been a game I have enjoyed more than I did with WaW. Second place would be a tie between MW2 and Blops. Weird thing is out of all the Cods I have way more hours on MW3 than any Cod I've played, yet I've enjoyed it the least.

If you're not playing for fun, then why even play?

I used to joke that the new Modern Warfare would be nothing more than MW 2.5, but it could have been the greatest one ever if that had actually happened. I do like certain things about MW3 a great deal, like Scavenger not refilling explosives (even if it means you have to eat a grenade to get another Stinger for that AC13), Blast Shield, Specialist package (my very favorite), MOABs requiring gun kills and not ending games, and so forth. But other than including those things in MW2 for a true MW2.5, I'm not sure what I would've done differently.

    PC? WaW.
    Console? CoD4.

WaW is the best CoD out there on both if it weren't for the infernal MP40 on consoles. Shooting a guy with a PTRS and watching him explode never gets old.
