I got shot whilst running today....one aimed shot from a sniper at quite a distance..

    Simply outstanding.

    I suck at sniping...

You have to pick the right map to snipe on, I find Overgrown to be the best. I park myself in the corners - make sure you have at least 2 sides of defense when sniping. Sniping is all about position, down someone, then move to another spot. Also utilize your claymores when sniping, they come in handy.

When I snipe I use the .50 cal or the first sniper rifle you unlock, the Dragonov and the R700 are inacurate.

I use stopping power and deep impact perks, some guys use UAV jammer, but I find this not of any help since you are only taking 1 or 2 shots. The most important thing to do when you are sniping is to hold your shot - by this I mean after you shoot the guy, hold the scope (left trigger) in, this way when the guy you kill views the Kill Cam, he will only see the scope shot, not your location. Only take a shot when you are reasonlably sure you will get the guy, if you miss, your dead...

I got a ton of strategy for sniping, if anyone wants to know my sweet spots on certain maps, send me a friend request on XBL

I like the "holding the shot" advice.

I'm more of a runner, sweeping from building to building looking for snipers to stab.... holding the shot has stopped me finding you on more than one occaision

sniping is what i find to be the best thing about online cod4, i like sniping more than anything, i have done a few running shots which i like alot haha but i guess i do annoy people a bit not that a i do it alot just that if your running somewhere you don't want to get killed on the way haha :P and i think for me, the first sniper is my favorite

    Just been playing....i still suck!
However I'm pretty damed nasty with an RPD
Granted that's about as subtle as a turd in the font when it comes to sniping however i just love the violence ! you can blow up cars & shoot down choppers!

Don't worry, i plan on becoming better all around & not just destroying everything within arms reach of my RPD until i run out of ammo!

R700 is the least accurate imo. I like all the snipers and can get equal amount of kills between all of them, except R700. I can probably get a lil more kills with the .50 cal though cause its semi auto 1 shot 1 kill.

My strat when sniping is to pick a spot where there is only 1 or 2 ways to get to that spot, and place a claymore around each corner. So that if they want to get to me they'll die from a claymore. Or it will go off and I'll know they're coming.

Oh yeah I use claymore, stopping power and iron lung perks.
