Lobby froze and now my console is a paperweight...was that normal?

So I'm at a friend's house yesterday and he puts in CoD4 and I'm like, 'wow I remember all this, people are still playing?' Go back home, find my copy, and start playing. Loads of fun, it still remembered my level and that I'd prestiged and everything. FFA all the way.
I walk into a modded lobby earlier that was all text and messages, I quit out. The next room I head to I'm in from the beginning for about a minute, then my console freezes. I figured that's what happened in this CoD when someone ragequits their panties off to the point of killing the console while they're host.
Whatevs.
Turn back on my console and all it's saying now is that I'm missing components of my 360, it will now update... except it never gets to update. It tells me it's my HDD, yet my HDD works fine on another console -.-

So was I just...not meant to have fun in CoD4? I've searched the forum and haven't seen something like it is why I post...

Unplug everything, reset your router and try loading the game up again. I've never heard of a hack lobby messing up your HDD.

I don't know what it was...as best I can figure I'm a moron that jostled the cable just enough when I manually shut off the machine -.- cus after I did what you suggested everything seems to be just fine. I switched HDD from a diff one and it wouldn't load so I thought it was the console that got messed up... guess not.
I suppose this should be closed/baleeted cus problem solved.
