Actually, it's just about the absolute worst place you could put Hardline. Last is where you want hardline. By putting hardline anywhere else you make it take one more kill to get the next perk in actuality. Either stick it in the class or put it last, it's by far the most effective way to go unless you are simply an assist machine.

Specialist is about the only thing in this game that's "new" that I find enjoyable. :/

I have always ran Hardline as my second actual perk and then for specialist used BSPro, I think how the perks stack is going to be based on how you play with that particular class. Seeing as how once you reach a certain point you get all 15 or so perks anyway...

Most killstreaks in this game are so easily countered it's a joke. UAV/CUAV used to be great to the point of OP in previous titles (particularly ghost didn't ignore CUAV) but with assassin now we have an OP counter to an OP (for cost) killstreak. Almost everything else is easily shot down though.

That makes specialist by far the best strike package, and what order you take things depends on class.

The best non-specialist alternative involves support + things that are difficult to counter like ballistic vests. Since you don't lose anything for taking UAV with it you might as well. Also consider recon drone since assassin doesn't hide from that 100%.

Assault streaks are a joke. Everything but the ac130 can be dropped by blind eye pro + a P90, let alone actual launchers. The kinds of players/teams that actually die to this junk are bad enough that you don't need any help to beat them.

This is what I use now.

Assault- Uav, Care Package, Predator Missile (IMS when I want to be a jackass)
Support- Uav, CUAV or Ballistic vests

I use hardline quite often. 2/3/4 assault kill streaks are so bogus. I have played games where I get 5-9 care packages. Care packages are extremely generous in this game. A pavelow and a chopper gunner, in the same game, is common. Further proof the video game industry is catering to wusses. Although, such low kill streaks with hardline is abusing the system. Especially UAV/CUAV.

Uav / vest. is a good combo, no doubt. Ive ran into other guys that seem to have vests everywhere. Also their team actually picked up the vests. man was that annoying.

Airstrike is underrated for getting kills.. but it aint niothing to wow about. and basically. yeah. get pred. drop it get airstrike, easy. then if youre lucky and teamie has uav, drop it on their heads.

I've stood underneath an airstrike and not gotten damaged. When I used it early when the game came out, I wasn't getting much with it either.

When I play S&D I like to run Support with UAV and Balist Vest (only)
