And trust me there is a difference between the xbox and PS3 controllers, its easier to player fighters on the PS3 controller and FPSs on xbox controller. One thing that really annoys me is on most FPS games on PS3 is that the L1 and R1 are used to aim and shoot, sometimes there isn't option to flip them like on BF3.
PS3 interface is way smoother and easier to use than xbox's new interface, my opinion of course. Ive heard so many complaints about the new xbox dashboard, from friends, people on the net, and myself. It's just awful. I mean sure anyone can figure it out, but why fix it if it isnt broken? The original dashboard worked perfectly to me. The new one not so much. Plus it just looks completely weird, with all the different size squares to choose from under each tab. I agree with you somewhat on the controller part about FPSs on ps3 L1 and R1 are used to aim and shoot. That was akward for me as well when I first got my ps3 because I was used to xboxs controller. But like I said earlier, you get used to whatever you play the most. So its really no difference to me, I dont think it makes either one better or worse. Im used to the ps3 layout and buttons so I can do very well on FPSs, but If I play on xbox it takes me a little while to get used to it. Plus the ps3 controller has built in rechargable battery packs, you cant go wrong there haha.

What was the difference in ps2 and ps2 slimline besides the size?

As well as size it had a built-in network adapter for online games.

There was something about a hard drive that didn't work with the slim but it apparently that was for one game only.

Plus it was more reliable the previous versions, (there's more than one fat ps3 versions).

Ok I wasnt sure of the differences thats why I was wondering. I only had the fat ps2, no clue what version, and wasnt into online gaming back then. Matter of a fact I still have it, it still works, I used to have it in my car and drunk stoned friends pretty much used it as a footrest to my unknowing, so its beat to hell and back. Btw if you've never played a racing game in a moving vehicle ( not including portable devices) on a curvy road you should, it makes the game almost impossible to play lol.

I was mainly talking about interacting with other people. Yes, on PSN you can look at a list of people against whom you've recently played, you can have a friends list, you can send and receive messages, and so forth, but when I last played PS3 online - say, almost a year ago - it was still a very clunky system compared to XBL. On XBL, managing your friends is extremely easy, sending messages, joining session off them, and so forth, and you can easily bring up the profile of anyone you encounter and, depending on their privacy settings, look at their friends list, see what games they are playing, and so on.

As for the user interface, the PS3 UI was extremely spartan back then, and I liked the one of Xbox much better, but I agree that the new one on Xbox isn't as good.

Ok, yea I wasnt sure what you meant. I dont believe you can see what games friends have recently been playing, well you sort of can, if you compare your trophies to another friends ,it shows what games they've been playing. But it does show what game they are currently playing or what they are currently doing, although I think its always been that way.Sending messages, joining sessions is simple and quick on psn like on xbox, they could have changed a few things since you've played on psn, not sure though. I don't feel like there is anything worthwhile I'm missing out on to warrant paying the price of a brand new game just to play online through xbox.

Yeh i think alot of these are not important for comparing a GAME SYSTEM.

Hardeware not even really a issue as said its old anyhow, Uncharted 3 or good looking game on 360 i dont see different, any there is cosmetic at best

Interface who cares aslong as it looks decent and works

Bluray meh, its nice to have built in but u can just buy cheap bluray player if u need one. For all the time i have a ps3 i dont even own a bluray except games ofc.

Crossgame chat alot of ps3 ppl want this WHY? want to listen to a bunch of ppl ragequitting cod while i try play an rpg or something lol.

Main reason i pick ps3 everyday of the week is only one that matters - VASTLY superior and bigger library of exclusive games and all other worthwhile are multi-plat anyway.
Thats all i can really say sorry for poor grammar i type this shit on ps3 browser lol cant stand inputting on this thing, nice console war anyhow haha, later noobs.

If the hardware is the same then obviously other things are important to decide which one to buy.

Cross chat is for friends not random people.

PS3 does have a slightly better and bigger library of games but not that much bigger.
In fact I bought the PS3 just for exclusives, specifically MGS4 (which turned out to be a major disappointment).

Now my PS3 is for MP games, while xbox 360 for SP games.

That's an example of why I think people ought to just go with whatever works best for them. I like XBL better than PSN and am not opposed to paying extra for it, but I wouldn't want to pay more than I already do, whereas someone else might not have a problem with that.

Some people care about exclusive titles, even in this age of most things being multi-platform; some people go by what most of their friends are playing and don't care about the other details; some want something that's more powerful enough than a Wii, but they are still casual enough to where the inclusion of a Blu-ray player does influence their decision to get a PS3 over Xbox.

I've had all three systems - PC, PS3, and Xbox - at the same time and think they all have their own advantages. I just can't feel a whole lot stronger about one than about the others, and the only reason I don't have a PS3 anymore is because I've had three break on me between 2007 and 2011 and I just didn't do enough gaming on there anymore to give me the urge to get a fourth one.

Well I agree with half of this statement. Yes the ps3 exclusives are without a doubt better and the number reason I choose ps3 as well. But bigger library than the 360 library? Thats not true at all, 360 clearly has a larger library, in large part due to it being out a year or so longer than ps3.

I agree with you. To each his own. Everyone wants different things in a gaming system and thats understandable. I enjoy both systems and always will. But when the next gen hits the shelves I'll be going with the PS4 or whatever it may be called, unless microsoft comes out with something insanely better, but I'm sure they'll both be evenly matched.

As far as not paying anymore than you already do for online gaming, they've already increased their monthly fee by a couple bucks a year or so back. I dont want to know what that will be like for the next gen xbox. If I was them I would go free.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the next generation. I'm sure Microsoft and Sony will do their best to release their new systems at the same time. Then it'll come down to which one is more developer-friendly. They'll both want to make their systems powerful enough not to fall behind the other one, but at the same time, they don't want to make any of the technology so specialized that the developers go with the system of the competition instead. Should be fun...
