I got a better idea of the differences when I tried to create a simple intro sequence with some moving text and some sound effects. I did the text in After Effects; it was based on a tutorial, but because I like to know not only what I should be doing but also why I should be doing it, I experimented around with some of the settings first. Adding sound tracks seemed easier in Vegas, however, so I rendered the text in AE (the computer I had the demo on at the time couldn't handle lossless rendering, so I did it with compression, but because it was just text, you couldn't really tell the difference) and then imported the animation into Vegas and added the sound effects and a bit of music. Extremely simple and probably along the lines of a programmer learning to write his first "Hello world" but I thought it was kinda neat for something I had never done before.

Awesome man! Glad you're giving it a try. To add sound effects just import the sfx and click/drag onto your composition

    May I suggest something?

I think a lot of sony vegas users especially would love to see a circular music bar equalizer tutorial with the overlay so when you zoom in it will be around the scope. Sort of like this.

That's an effect you need Adobe After Effects for, you can't do it in Sony Vegas.

Hey guys, sorry I've been slacking on the tutorials. I'm currently in th last 2 weeks of studying for the BAR Exam. Soon as I get that out of the way I'll start making tutorials again. Let me know what you guys wanna see!! I'm thinking I going to do a Motion-Tracking 3D Models Tutorial since it seems that's the new standard for edits
