Solutions to my ps3?

Well, I got back from my friend's house.
I set my PS3 back up, but I decided to set it up vertically, so it would save some space on my new desk.
As soon as I booted up, everything was working just fine.

A few hours later it began to make a whirring noise. Naturally, I put it back horizontally in hopes it would stop. It did, but then it started again to the point where it was louder than the gameplay and some music I was playing.

Later, me and a friend were playing some MW3 together, and after getting owned we decided to play some Black Ops for the lulz.....Now my ps3 won't load games without having to reinsert the game constantly.

So.....Referring back to the title, any solutions? Should I try to repair in some way? If so, would it take away my data?

i don't think it is because you set it up vertically... because there are some gadget's for the PS3 where you need to put the ps3 vertically...
i think you need to let someone watch to it

Keep re-insert games for them to load up isnt a good sign sounds like ur bluray drive is going to die, try loading a DVD or audio CD if u have them if they load up ok but not the games u might be able to pinpoint what is wrong somewhat.

Ah, audio CDs work, but DVDs take a little longer
They both still make that whirring noise.

Oh, and I noticed that the disk gets quite hot when I take it back out.
