Default Community standards & guideline proposals

In my infinite wisdom and kindness I have given you all the privilege of suggesting community standards. We will implement those which are reasonable and which will improve the forum.

What are community standards and guidelines?

    • They're basically rules, but specifically regarding how members of the community interact and how treat each other.
    • Like rules, they will apply to everyone, and everyone will be expected to follow them. Failure to follow them will result in a warning, infraction, a ban, or some other punishment.

The format of this thread is still not concrete, but try to follow these guidelines:

    • If someone posts a proposal which you agree with, then you can reply to or quote said proposal to show your support -- and possibly suggest a change in your message if you see fit.
    • If you do not agree with a proposal, then quote it and post a simple, cogent comment about why it would not be a good standard or guideline. No flaming or demeaning comments will be tolerated at all.

No arguing will be tolerated. Please keep this in mind when contributing to this thread.

That line could be drawn at any range. And that line will likely be crossed again in the future.
What line hasn't been crossed? After all, it is the Internet.

We can keep making rules and regulations and it won't ever be anything more than a temporary thought until we start arguing about it again.

My solution has nothing to do with forum moderation, growing testosterone levels, or scapegoats.
Because I am my own authority, and I take responsibility for my own actions.
I'm not always correct. I make mistakes just like every other human being.
But I will admit to those mistakes and cut my losses short.

Heck, I'll even throw a disclaimer once in a while, like now:
This is just my opinion but, if someone on the Internet is getting on your nerves, you can always ignore them and go on with the rest of your life. Why let it get to you?

Especially when coming from someone who's title is literally "Forum Jester"

respect the mods and the rules

this doesn't mean disagreement can't happen, but when it becomes harassment, it needs to stop

you disagree with a rule or a mod, speak to them like adults and when it's obvious that you're not going to get your way, accept it

Can we have a like post feature?

I appreciate that’s not a standard or guideline!

If someone does disagree with a mod then it should be taken to PM, or maybe a dispute area where it can be dealt with away from the general population.

If you get a post deleted, take it on the chin and move on. If your that upset about it PM a mod for an explanation. Not happy with the explanation, PM another mod for their view. Still not happy, PM the admin.

Posts/threads complaining about a deleted post shouldn’t be allowed full stop.

Same applies about a friend being banned. Keep it private.

Censorship on words? Hmn… not sure where I sit with that. If we start banning words because one person if offended, where will it stop? If for example the n word was used as an insult i.e. ‘c4b is a n word’. Fair enough, if its used as a greeting then fine. i.e ‘what up c4b my n word?’ Its all about being adult (which can be quite difficult for some to grasp)

i would just like to mention that the minecraft forum doesn't filter any words or have a word guidline to follow and most of their members are 13 or younger. this is a forum for a game which is 18+

this is the proposal thread. meaning its something you propose. so far you've been out voted on this 3 to 1, and as far as i have seen are the only one w/ a problem w/ this. i don't see why we should change a rule for one member (whom is the age of 13 mind you) who can't handle a few foul words. if you can't handle that you should talk to your parents about restricting what websites you are allowed to see, because you can find equally bad words throughout the internet.

so, lose the attitude when i am simply making a legit discussion out of your proposal by citing another website as an example. which was a much nicer way of dealin w/ you than in the bored thread.

I'm all for arguing, as long as people keep it respectful.

Let the membership decide if there is going to be a vote. I agree one member can't make a difference but there might be more. Age is 14. Do the math . Born in97. First mistake. Second mistake. this is a gaming website. A mod who left told me that. Ask her what there stance is. I don't go to certain websites for obvious reasons. gaming has nothing to do with words like that. How come football players get fined for using the n word. I don't hear you right now. because it is degrading. one more thing . youtube yanked my vid off. you know the one. Called him the word. Fight breaks out. End of story.
