Default NAT Type , Ports Forwarding. Hot Rod Your PS3 experience.

I know there are some posts dealing with this, but I'm hoping this will be the "be all end all" on this matter. If it fits the bill, could this be sticky'd?

I had been dealing with some serious online / activision / PSN / IW BS--unable to join friends games, unable to accept invites, friends list disappearing, lag between XMB, messaging, class selection etc-- and after some help from Syn and the links I'm providing below, things seem to be much much better.

    First
Getting a Static IP for your PS3:

    Second
    Nat Opening:
How to get a Type 2 (Open) NAT on your PS3

The ULTIMATE ultimate guide to fixing your NAT - PlayStation.com Forums

    Third
    Port Forwarding:
PortForward.com - Port Forwarding Guides Listed by Manufacturer and Model

---> Find your router in the selection.
Click the "skip this advertisement" link in the TOP RIGHT.
--->IN the "P" section of the next page, got to the "Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2" link. Click.
--->Enter Static IP from what was done earlier

Follow remaining steps according to portforward.com's instruction.

    Any questions?
    Post 'em here.

    Hopefully someone can help out.

    Well, give this a shot.
I hear having an up-to-date router helps, and having the latest firmware for that router as well.

type 2 nat i can get, but COD still calls it moderate not open.
i have tried lots of things including custom firmware tomato for my router but i think with my provider qwest the only way to get "open" in COD which would be nat 1 is to connect directly to the modem and configuring qoeee or whatever it is called on the ps3 where you type your account and password from qwest into the ps3 but i need the wireless router so maybe if i got a wireless router/modem in one then it would be possible to get nat 1.
