    Default Pop up spam

Right well I seem to have a pop up infected in my computer, something about "Your computer is seriously infected, launch anti-virus?"
This "anti-virus" sends me to some unknown website.
A side effect of this infected spam is that it changes my proxy settings within browsers so I can't go on any website.
Also some random Anti-virus I've never heard of pops up saying something about I'm infected and I've never downloaded any anti anything, apart from AVG, and Spybot.
I have also scanned computer with AVG and Spybot several time and with no avail.

    Any thoughts people ?

well...there are these certain websites that will tell you that you have a virus and want you to click their site just so you can get the virus. it almost happened to me. I would suggest having a pro look at it.

I don't want a pro to look at it, that's why I came here.
and if you must know, it wasn't a website, I saved this render for my GFX work, and it was apparently attached to the render, cheeky sods lol

My guess is that it's a type of infection. It's purpose is to goad you into pruchasing their product.

Do you have an antivirus installed?

First clean out your cookies and temp files, then restart your computer.

Then update both Spybot and AVG.

Then run a Spybot scan, and remove everything it says. When offered, save all changes.

    Then restart your computer.

Then run a scan with AVG and delete everything it says. When offered, save all changes.

    Then restart your computer.

Then return here with the results.

If you need help along the way, please let me know.

Alternately, you can post here, and some very good helpers will guide you.

The easy way is to use CCleaner. Info and download available here:
CCleaner - Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download

If you rather not do that, tell me what system you have Explorer, Firefox, etc, and I'll find a guide.

I recommend that you check all the boxes. You will lose some useful files; passwords, auto-completes, etc, which means that you will have to login here and your other favorite sites from scratch. Make sure that you have your account names and passwords in a safe place.
