Thread: Why I think the AK74u isn't in MW2

    Default Why I think the AK74u isn't in MW2

From the start I've been complaining that IW didn't include the AK74u this time round. But after all this time, I think I've figured out why.

    Let's compare the UMP45 and AK74u from CoD4

    AK74u
    - Fire Rate: 800RPM. Kills faster in CQB than the UMP.
    - Damage: 40-20
    - Recoil: Vertical but predictable. You knew how the gun was going to react every single time you shot it. Made it easier to pull off mid-long range shots. You could go full auto at anything other than very long range.
    - Reload time: Extremely fast if you did the reload cancel.
    - Penetration factor: 2. Assault Rifle.

    UMP45
    - Fire Rate: 630RPM
    - Damage: 40-35
    - Recoil: Visually, not as extreme as the AK74u. But it has mixture of vertical and horizontal kick, which makes pulling off long range shots more difficult.
    - Reload Time: Average. Slower than the 74u.
    - Penetration factor: 1. SMG.

The 74u wins in every category but damage. Which the predictable recoil and rate of fire pretty much make up for at long range anyway. So if the 74u was included in the game with the same stats as it had in CoD4, it'd overpower even the UMP, widely considered the most user-friendly and 'best' SMG in the game.

    Thoughts?

MP5 > AK74u but if it was beefy enough to compete with assaults in CQC it would be used often.

IMO Ak74u was stronger then the UMP--I'm glad they didn't include it or it woulda been nerfed lol. That thing just chewed people up

But the thing is - if they did, it would have fit in perfectly for our needs. I think they would have added in a bit of horizontal recoil sway garbage stuff what ever you want to call it. In which case, I'd call it about even.

It isn't something that would have been MP40'd though with those stats from CoD4 as it was anyways. Very good, but not game changing. I think they did it just for something else.

Or their going to be doing a weapons pack - which I see as highly unlikely, even if I do want to see one.

So basically you finally figured out that SMGs are underpowered pieces of ****....

SMGs got a nerf in many aspects and every other gun category, with exception of snipers, got a major buff.

Disclaimer: I didnt say you cant do well with SMGs but if you do, you could have done just as well with an AR.

i think the ak74u is better compared to the mp5k. both 800rpm 40-20 damage. the mp5k just has more recoil and worse penetration (but doesn't suffer from the hip fire penalties that the 74u did with attachments).

Where in my post did I say SMGs are underpowered? Just because they're harder to use than ARs, it doesn't mean they're underpowered. The main reason the ARs are so dominant is because the maps suit them the best. If the majority of maps were SMG friendly, you'd say the opposite.

Pit and ACR against an MP5k in CQB and the ACR's zero recoil means nothing. It's all about RoF, hip spread/ADS speed, strafe speed and weapon damage at that point. The MP5k trumps the ACR in every single one of those categories. There's only going to be one winner.

When I played MW1, I generally found AK47 and its 74u variation equal in accuracy and damage. Also, there is one gun from MW1 in every MW2 category (with the exception with the LMG), so it would make sense

You're in my line of fire

So they didn't include it because it would be the best SMG? Why did they include the UMP45 then (since that it's considered the best SMG?). I'm assuming they didn't include it because they wanted to give everyone a taste of new guns instead of just recycling the old ones.

Being a user of both guns I personally prefer the UMP easily. And yeah the guns are similar and you're probably right of why the 74u wasen't included
