Default iw4sp.exe or iw4mp.exe Errors (Modern Warfare 2)

Like in Call of Duty 4, users may have problems with the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer or single player executables crashing or failing to launch.

    Code:
    iw4sp.exe has stopped working
    Code:
    iw4mp.exe has stopped working
As always, the default advice is to make sure you have all of your drivers updated including graphics drivers and your audio/sound card drivers.

    Graphics drivers:
    AMD.com | Support & Downloads
    Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

    Sound drivers:
    Realtek
Creative Worldwide Support > Sound Blaster
    Dell - Drivers and Downloads
HP United States - Computers, Laptops, Servers, Printers and more
    ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-

You may also try plugging in a microphone, that worked with the iw3mp.exe error in Call of Duty 4.

If you have had success solving these issues, please share with the rest of us in this thread.

Default An annoying, but effective fix.

I was having the same problems yesterday (and still am). However, I have got my game to work by restarting my computer and immediately opening up CoD Modern Warfare 2. It doesn't die on me immediately(anymore) and I actually am enjoying single and multi player.

Beware of the multiplayer though... your NAT needs to be open and that was a pain as well...

I got the same problem. I formated, updated all my drivers for my computer just because I wanted this to work, but guess what, still the same problem.

Can play about 10-20 min, then it crashes. It says "iw4sp.exe has stopped working". Havn't tried Multiplayer yet, because I wanna finish Singleplayer first.

It's not fun to sit 24/7 infront of the computer trying to find a fix for this game. I really hope IW will find a fix soon.

    Windows 7 Ultimate N
    AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ 3.00 GHz
    RAM 2.00 GB

ok guys, I had same problem, its the same fix as my cod4, ctrl panel> sound> recording tab, right clink in the big box area, hit show disabled devices, stereo mix should come up, click that and set priority, that works, if it ever freezes, hit ctrl alt delete, then cancel and let it load for like 30 secs, if it doesnt work try again
