I mean, it is a pretty bad gun, so should it have a better range?

Yes...... cuz when i use it, i will shoot somone about 10 yards away and not connect with them.... its rediculous. i'm pretty sure a shotgun can shoot quite far? plus i think you should be able to choose what type of round you want to use like buck shot or a slug......

I suppose it could use a bit more range, but over-doing it might have serious consequences.

As long as the balance it right, wouldn't want an all powerful shotty would we lol

I don't think so. Shotguns have pretty decent range as it is, and sometimes it just seems like they have TOO much range. But that may be just me. I like the way they are now, it seems pretty balanced to me.

Maybe a perk to give it more range?I would take the second perk away tho.

I think I would like to have a slug shot avail.but to get an increase in range I'd settle to have to be scoped for it to be effective. No increase in range if you shoot from the hip.
Not really. It's pretty useful in it's given situation. It's not an assault rifle, it's a CQB weapon, don't treat it like it's going to kill people from medium-long range.

I won't treat it like that unless they give me slugs. They go further(no spread pattern)

The shotty is fine how it is, it's just how you shoot it. I see people miss when they're right next to me, thn I see people kill me from 10 yards away.

Yes, shotguns desperately need more range. I don't think they need to be brought to realistic ranges - buckshot will down a deer at fifty yards, but if shotguns could drop someone in one shot at half a football field in MW2 that would obviously dominate the game. That said they need to be buffed.

I think the 3:00 mark proves my point beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Yeah it could have been having a better range.I give a vote to it.

A shotgun can fire the length of a football field, all be it, the shot would be extremely spread out, so I think IW should make it realistic, give it a larger range but balance out by increasing spread range to balance things out. I struggle with the shotty even on vacant with the long corridors you cant even hit people.

i think infinity ward hit the nail on the head with the last setup. i mean anybody knows that shotguns can shoot much further in real life than what they can in-game. however i think they deliberately decreased the range for playability. they are without question the most powerful weapons in the game in the right hands and so would be unfair if they had real attributes. i say keep them as they are, even if i love to hate them lol.

i say give them increased range and more spread, the pump shotty in counter-strike source has been the best rendition of a shotgun so far in my books and you could hit people at 75 feet ( im not saying you would hit them alot but you still had that small chance to throw their aim off a little bit)

modern warfare is un-realistic enough, making the range further would just make it worse. If shotguns can shoot out 50 feet and still 1 hit people. Game Over.

I do believe it should have a better range, because using Shotguns for shooting birds high up in the sky, it must have a better range than what it shows in the game.

How the hell would giving shotguns more realistic range make the game less realistic?
No one's suggesting that the range of shotguns be increased that drastically, but as it stands they're ridiculously underpowered. If I had my way I'd bump the one shot range out to 25-30 feet, then have the pellets continue ad infinitum at low damage in the spread pattern.

tbh everyone knows shotguns in cod4 are not up to spec they dont resemble much realism in the true firing of a shotgun. if you think about it shotguns are one of the most dangerous weapons in the game. They do high levels of damage without the need of perks. i think they have decreased the range but increased the power and spread for that reason. rather have a dominating weapon all the time like the ak. shotguns are fine the way they are the range is no matter if you know how and when to fire them. i dont think the range should be changed regardless of the "real" type of shotgun to keep up with realism. i honestly hope they dont change them there fine the way they are. cant imagine and auto shotty killing someone form 100 metres away can you? that will just make it to broken add steady aim to the mix and you have a perfectly abusable weapon.

Again, no one is suggesting that shotguns in the game be lethal at the same ranges they are in real life, just that shotguns be un-neutered.

maybe bump up the range a tad.....and can you imagine if there is more gore? like to see that headshot again lol
