Never really been a fan, but I've played a round once or twice. SmokedOut is an avid golf fan.
There's this thread about golf, but it's about whether it should be in the Olympics or not:

I played last Sunday for the first time this year. It's the most selfrewarding sport I have ever attempted. Been playing for 30 years. It is so relaxing and requires a high degree of consentration. Athleticly demanding. At times frustrating. The weather is improving so I'll be out playing alot from here on through the spring and summer. Great thread Seano, tee it up dude!

Only 10% of the people who play golf shoot under 100 strokes per round. Par generally is considered 72 strokes. I carry a 10 handicap.I'm generally around 80 to 85 strokes, sometimes lower. My best round ever, I played Torrey Pines in San Diego. They host a PGA tournament there. The Buick Open. I shot a 78 on the south track a week after the tourny so it was in real great shape and setup really tuff for the pros (challenging).God I love golf.

Torrey Pines is my dream course to play on, I got to play on Bethpage after the US Open was there. You want to talk about a tough course, try 7200 yds with 5 inch rough. I was in high school when I played it and I was carrying a 5 handicap.... I shot a 90. Anybody that wants to play a US OPen course and only spend 50-60 bucks, look up Bethpage State Park.

I'm familliar with the black course.you speak of. Havn't ever been East of Chicago though. I know it is a public course. As is Torrey Pines. The south side is over 7000 yds. While the north is substancially shorter but the elavation changes on the cliffs makes it play longer.I lived in San Diego for 18 years so I, being a resident got to play for the down low price of $23.00. Needless to say I tapped that sucker alot. They leave the fairways cut for the tourny that way for about a month after and let the locals give em a go.Torrey used to be the most heavily played public course in the country. It may still be. But with all the traffic They gotta push people through. They soften it up to get you around quicker most of the year.BTW I think nonresidense play for around $60.00. Did you know, there are like 90 golf courses in San Diego county. Thats why I stayed there so long. Golf year around. But I had to get back to the Northwest and get serious about my life:ie make so money. Righton man, hit em straight.
Oh yah, they have super deep tee boxes that extend the length when the mens club and tourneys deem it prudent. Generally the public dosen't get to partake of that length. As was the case on my special day.I think I played it at about 6800 yds. The 18th is a par 5. I needed a par to break 80. Driver, 3 wood,9 iron over the water to a green that slopes back to you and can draw you into the water. Stay below the hole right? I plugged the ball 15 feet behind the pin. Repaired my mark. Drained the down hill for bird. If it hadn't gone in I would have been in the haz. 78 attested. I ****in roared.L8er

Damn that was a pretty impressive round you had. Hopefully once I get my knee fixed and move some money around I will be able to get out that way to play some golf.

It one of those kind of off and on sports for me to watch, yet I love to play golf. Not the greatest, damn golf ball always draws to the right

Freddie Couples from Seattle made a nice run this weekend but couldn't hang on for the last 3 holes. He hasn't won in quite awhile. I would have liked to see him win.
