I mean, the enemy team rarely talks strategy. Only profanity. And I personally don't want to hear the 6 year old I killed yelling.

i agree... i think the evesdrop perk is useless... enemy teamates barely use it to actually communicate, and even if they do, it only gives you a slight andvantage...
we're all better off using a better perk:)

Both right, though in competitive play it could come in handy..
On pc its useless though as clans use ts or vent

agreed... for example during a clan battle or something, if a teamate had it, and told everyone about it, it would be great

I play on teh 360, and I think that Eavesdrop is probably the worst, crappiest excuse for a perk that ever dared to be in Call of Duty 4.
Well, maybe not THAT bad....
Yeah.
That bad.
No one EVER actually talks strategy, just kids singing and swearing.

That's true...
Still, I think they should have studied the online behavior for other FPSs first.

I was A big resistance: fall of man player for PS3 and it definently would have came in handy for theat because everybody knew what everybody was talking about if the enemy said " Hes going catwalk" or "Cover the "canyon""
resistance had much more strategy involved but less custimazition as COD4
I think that is why i consider COD4 a 9.9/10

nooooooooo!!!!!! 9.9.... what are we gonna do?!?!?!?

I've actully found that using the eaves drop perk on while doing team tactical is very useful, you find excatly what hte other team is taking the bomb during search and destroy or domination, which flag their heading for.

yea maybe... but there are much better perks that you can put in that slot

sure there are. but think you have two guys to kill correct. then you have a sniper with eavesdrop and you find out where there going. its a preety good setup if you have a good party.

It worked for me once.
I heard one of them say "He's behind that wall".
It was only after I was blown to hell that I realised they were talking about me.

It actually helps when you're playing private matches with friends. My friend said "I'll go in the turret and get the guys in the middle building" (this is on Backlot btw) and sure enough someone was waiting there at the turret to blast him away. It was only after the match that we found out he was using eavesdrop

This has to be the worst perk. I tried just to laugh about what the idiots on the other team were talking about and in one match the talked about to porn movies a fatty girl titties and a swear word every other word.... o and yaeh a six year old singing baby got back. I mean........What the hell is wrong with them?

What if they gave Eavesdrop an upgrade.
Instead of getting the little marker when somebody is nearby, and hearing whatever they say...
How about you get alittle marker (the Eavesdrop symbol) over the head of nearby enemies who are talking (kinda like the Bomb Squad symbol, but for your enemies). I think it would make a halfway decent perk for matches like S&D or whenever your sneaking around, because you'll hear them, and when you look you can locate them while they're talking. Might shut some people up, doubtful, but a man can dream.

IW should of realized that cod4 isn't really R6V2, cuz if it was.. we'd be using that perk.

yeah even if a guy is near you he still might not be talking so u never no its coming.....so this shouldnt be used just to find a guy

i also think the eavesdrop perk is useless. no one is going to be talking about strategy unless ur in a clan match

well fair enough its not a good perk but it can come handy in a S&D, say if your looking for enemy players it only lets you hear the enamy teamates that are "closeby" so it lets you know that you are near an enemy.
Thats about the best you can get out of it but apart from that its useless

04-19-2008, 08:02 AM
i just use it when ever im bored enough to actually want to hear the reaction of the people i kill
and than they always call me a camper when i snipe with an m16 just because its an ar and not a sniper rifle

well i think it is help full on hard core cuse if your the last one and there is still a few more guys left and you dont know were thay are it can help when your walkin about. trust me it is help full try it out on hardcore search you will see its not useless

Exactly, plus i hear enough profanity on my team, i dont want to hear the other team chipping in. also the range for eavesdrop is pretty low.

Thx for all of your feedback. You are right, but it is useless on most matches though.

I think eavesdrop perk is completely useless, UNLESS you are playing on a ranked CLAN MATCH! if any of you have a ranked clan on Gamebattles.com then you know what im talking about. Although, it is pointless to have your good players use this perk. Its best to make your worst player use it, and just make the tool tell the rest of your group whats going on.

yeah i usually get tingle (look at clan list below) to use eavesdrop uav jammer and bomb squad and he's actually pretty good at sneaking behind the enemy and laying low to listen to their strategies many a time he's informed me there is someone about to shoot me or about to come round the back behind us because of it. but other than clan matches yes it is the worst perk for general multiplayer i prefer to use extreme cond or steady aim

As just about everyone has said, it seems to be worthless outside of the competitive environment on consoles.

Only reason I can think of is so I can listen to the other team bitching about how bad there getting pwned. Unfortunately I always turn in game voice off so I would never know.

i think i have used this perk about 5 times for no actual reason other than to try and use it in a good way and it never worked so its pointless to have unless you wanna hear the other team members shouting he's in the bushes
Late Customer
01-08-2009, 05:18 PM
Some of my buddies and I would use it now and then to hear the other team complain, or if we thought one of their players was on a roll during the pre-game banter. Now you don't even get that since most people on the 360 now use the party chat option.
Eaves Drop is now 100% pointless on 360 and PC.

It's admirable that they put it in the game but ultimately it's useless considering in most games strategy is not used often. In strict online tournaments it could be useful but that's about it.

Its the most pointless perk as no1 ever hardly talks on CoD4 on PC andif they do all it is are 6 year old squeaky voiced freaks singin and screaming and crying!!
POINTLESS PERK!!!!!!!!!!
