Upgrading your video card would probably give you more of an increase than upgrading your CPU. Upgrading your CPU will increase performance, just not as much as upgrading your video card would though.

so go for a new cpu? or save money for card and buy cpu later?

I agree the GPU's in modern day graphics cards take the hit for processing time and ram, the cpu is used less and less because the GPU's are getting more powerful.

I have a P4 3Ghz with 2gb Ram running Vista and i have a ATI 1600 (£80 at the time) and it plays fine. About 70 frames a second, on low settings.

2 of my Clan mates bought 8800 GT's before Xmas and they havent looked back, settings all set to high and the screenshots i have seen of theres looks amazing

the 8800 GT 512s are very good VGA cards IMO, i would get a new heatsink and fan with that card, they get a bit on the hot side.

Thats a pretty good deal. I don't think you'd really need a dual GPU just for cod4. One should be enough. But make sure your PSU good enough so that GPU gets enough power so it can perform at its fullest potential

That should be enough then. Post results when you get the new video card

Also, just go ahead and save up for a core2quad instead.. the Q6600 (4x2.4ghz) is only $300 right now

deff upgrading your vid card would make a world of difference...pentium 4 is just find for cod4, im running an amd 3500 single core 2.4 (3.4 intel standards) with an ati x1600 vid card and I run on highest.
