It has gone down twice in the past month, with no explination of why, no timescale on it being resolved. What's worse, is they direct you to their forum, which is shockingly unnavigable, awful and filled with fanboys who tell me it is MY connection when THE ENTIRE SYSTEM IS DOWN.
What the hell do I pay for?

shit happens, and you don't pay for any breaks in service as they add to your renewal date when any breaks in service happen.

I don't think that I've ever noticed XBL going down. I either have the best luck in timing considering I've had it since release or it really is something with your connection.
Either way, it's 100 times more reliable than the PSN. You should count your blessings.

It isn't my connection, as my connection passed the inbuilt test xbox live has.
I don't really mind paying, I just needed to vent!
When that happens its your personal internet not being able to connect to XBL, its happened to me a few times in the past.

It wasn't my personal internet. My personal internet was working fine. As I said, I visited the Xbox support website and it said there was an outage.

A few people also mentioned it on twitter and i couldn't sign in for a minute or 2 but was soon resolved whatever it was.
