View Full Version : Nukes Harder on PC?
Am I the only one who thinks this? I see YouTube videos of console players, and the air support just rapes. No-one shoots it down, no-one has cold blooded etc. They all just stand there shooting their guns at it like morons. Yet whenever I play on PC, my AC-130's get shot down all the time by invisible cold blooded players.
I put it down to the huge majority of kids and casual gamers on consoles who are just cannon fodder. PC gamers I think tend to be a little bit more of a hardcore bunch. Right or wrong? What do you think? Or am I just unlucky with my air support?
Yes I must clearly be lacking skill if I'm getting shot down by people I can't see.
If you have nothing constructive to say, please shut up and/or piss off. Whichever is easiest for yourself to handle.

PC players do tend to be a bit more dedicated to their gameplay. The console players have aim assist, which would be considered cheating on PC... So... Who's lacking in skill kStarr? By the way, I hope you like your new sig :p

I never knew console had aimlockers, wow! Yeah, PC mw2 has more pro gamers, but I'll tell you why. We can flip around turn around, quickscope, drag scope etc. much faster than the console players because the the mouse goes as fast as we want it to, alowing for faster actions and more precision/ people will keep getting better after the point they would be pro on xbox or ps3. It's the fact that we can do things so fast that forges us into players that amaze ourselves. Iv'e had multiple occasions where Iv'e done shots I would call aimbot-ish if I was on the other team looking at a killcam lol... Hope tihs helps....And yeah, it is much harder to get a nuke. But the ez way to get nukes if you want to get the emblem = AR /w Tube.OMA.Danger Close.Ninja.Claymore.Stuns! That can get nukes really fast, but its kinda... lame... Hope this helped Mr.T

Wow.... I literally told my friend word for word what you just typed, a few days ago...
Anyways the opinion of the undecided nub here is that from going back and forth from the console to the pc and vice verse is that the console plays are quite skilled at what they are playing but the pc players have literally no limit as to how "good" they can get which like "lolk7" said the console players once they hit that limit they are "pro" so to speak. Playing on the pc gives me a freedom where I can do whatever I want and there wont be any controller hiccups.
BTW facts from life I have quite a few friends that play the consoles and this is based on what they all have told me. One of my friends can just pickup a game and get 40+ kills and hardly die at all, without knowing a single thing about the game beforehand. (I tried it on him when MW2 came out he never played COD4 so it was perfect) That would be the limit that I talk about, just simply being able to pickup a game and play good without practice.
(off topic but I was replying to lolk7 for reasons already stated)
Yeah I've seen Wings Of Redemption use that class before. My problem is not getting the initial killstreak though, but with air support. The final run with the Chopper Gunner or AC130 always last about 2 seconds!

Back on topic....
I've only had 5 nukes so far using the usual harrier strike, chopper gunner route, and i only really play hq pro. My usual load out is an AR (ACR preferably), usp - tac knife, scavenger pro, stopping power pro, commando pro with semtex and stuns.
The map your on also determines how well your harriers and chopper do, invasion can be a bitch with the gunner with lots of buildings to take cover in, whereas wasteland can be a frag fest.

I've not had or seen a nuke used in the game, at all so far. I play Pc, and I'm level 70. Wheras my console playing friends tell me they've A: gotten multiple nukes themselves (when I KNOW I'm a better player than them, I can destroy them at shooters), and B: see nukes fairly often. Dunno what it is about it.

I'm not sure nukes are really harder on PC. There's probably 2 specific differences you can site between the PC and the console.
1) I would expect to encounter more experienced FPS gamers on PC. PC has historically been the FPS platform and a lot of PC MW2 players will have a lot of prior experience. Playing against more experienced FPS gamers will obviously make attaining a nuke more difficult than on console.
2) Lack of auto-aim/lock on for ac130/CG. The auto-aim that console players get is also applied to the CG/AC130 (you can see it the youtube videos) which i would think makes it much easier to rack up the CG kills.
However i don't think either of these things make it particulalry hard to get a nuke. After gettign 15 myself on PC i'd say the 2 hardest things are attaining the 7 kills for the harriers without dying to a random nubetube etc and then no having your air support shot down.
It's quite luck based really.

I've never played online on a console, nor have I gotten a nuke <-- Starter
So I have no say in this.

just to interject...... as a console playes 1) i (and most of the peeps i play with would rather at least be able to turn off the aim assist as it will get you killed when it kicks in where you dont want it to.
2) would NEVER want to go up against yall and your insane mouse speed.
So yes i believe its much easier on a console.

I've seen a few comments from other console players saying they'd like to turn off the aim assist. After playing with keyboard and mouse for so long, I can't even use a pad anymore... I'd probably need the aim assist using a controller :p

I love the smell of Radiation in the morning....or late Sunday evening :)
It's been weeks since I got a Nuke! Had a challenge with a friend at work to get one over the weekend, looks like I kept up my end. Mind you, it did take me ALL weekend to get it! Came close about 3 times, but finally got one. Woop!

I play on PS3, and it is easy to get a nuke. I tried for 4 days and had already gotten 9 nukes. Just get a 7 kill streak, no one will shoot down your air support. I think 50% of the time when I get a harrier and manage to find a hiding spot I can get it up to a nuke. For some reason, no one ever takes out my chopper gunner.
I put it down to a lot of console gamers being 'casual' gamers, or weekend gamers. They might buy maybe 3 or 4 games a year, and in MW2, act mostly as cannon fodder. And seen as there are several million people playing the game on either PS3 or Xbox, there are a hell of a lot of casual gamers out there.
Don't get me wrong, some of the best players I've seen are all on consoles! PC just has a smaller, more hardcore FPS community.*Most* seem to know the maps really well, use cold-blooded, and generally shoot air support down. Very few PC gamers are casual in their approach. Like myself, they have pretty sweet rigs, and usually play quite a bit.

What's funny is I read this thread yesterday(PC),and couldn't comment because I haven't seen a nuke strike yet.
TODAY: I witness two of them! :o
So,I really can't answer again because I never played console before.
Just wanted to add my 2 pennies......;)

I've also noticed this, how console gamers seems to get nukes easier, and I'm ussually the one who brings out a stinger after getting killed by a harrier, ac130, chopper, etc...

The aim assist only makes things worse to start off and doesnt really help, and yes its easy to get nukes on consoles depending witch rank you are and prestige.Only one of my nukes was 40% help of Kill streaks rewards,my Ac 130 Chopper guner gets shot down within seconds, its kinda of a lol moment when i see 4 stingers coming in my direction.Dedication and good skills help alot.

Rank and prestige hasn't got anything to do with it. You can get easy nukes with a simple UMP silenced, 7-11-25 kill streak setup. Marathon, lightweight, commando, they're all unlocked at the beginning of your prestige. You just need to have 3 extra kill streaks unlocked, not sure at which level this is.
I find it bizarre how many people's CG/AC130 get shot down. My AC130 hasn't ever been shot down and my CG rarely gets taken down. I've got 940 CG kills so far, not counting my first 70 levels, so I have enough experience with them. The harrier actually gets shot down a lot more often then the CG.

i think one of the reasons PC gamers tend to be better is that a decent gaming PC costs around $1000, while a console costs $300 or less. A thirteen year old kid is, chances are, gonna get a console for the same performance that a PC three times the cost offers.

A $300 console won't come close to a $1000 PC in terms of performance? You are right though, the kids will have the console because it's cheaper... Most kids won't have access to large amounts of money, so their parents will be buying for them, and given the choice of spending £200 or £700; most parents will go for the £200 option.

Now i have an entirely different point of view on this... as people said before it IS harder to get a nuke on PC then a console but on the other hand if you give a mouse and keyboard to a console player they will have the same "6th sense" as you would say but on consoles they not only have the "precision aim" but they carry the drop shot and the care pack glitch but ive been accused of hacking several times with a vector m1014 marathon coldblooded and steadyaim because... the vector has literally no recoil and with that snap of you mouse you can fly around your area shooting anything that moves within a 360 degree radius so in my idea its easier yet harder to get a nuke on the pc

02-25-2010, 06:26 PM
More or less, I think it has to do with the fact that it seems alot of PC gamers run around with a stinger on their back, where as console gamers have different loadouts since the 3 MW2 systems have isolated communities, so they don't see what PC gamers have.

Yeah this guy has it right. Not many people realise the game play difference on the PC. Not saying console is easier (since I dont own one). However, I played MW2 on my friends 360 for the first time and came in 1st 4 times in a row (with a crappy K/D though lol). Not sure what that means but it means something ;)
But seriously, the ability to aim quicker and with more accuracy makes the game play quicker on PC.

Its simple really. Aim helpers are built into the cod4/5/6 code on all platforms. So.... why shut them off for the PC users? Could it be that the developers have a grudge against the PC? Or maybe its because with a KM it would be too easy? :D

My brother bought the game on release(PC),I've played it for about 6 hours/day approx.. And i borrowed the 360 version from my friend and played it alot too... I've seen a total of 14(2 myself) nukes on PC and on the 360 i see nukes everyday its too hard to keep track of 'em..
I bet 50 people already said this but i think the console players are more casual( so the few good players there is can rack up kills like a motherf*cker) while the pc community are miles ahead of the console players in map knowledge, aiming, Whats needed to win a game etc etc.. Thus making it harder to get nukes.... Sorry if i just repeat stuff other people said but i haven't read thru the thread

That is the funniest thing I've read all day
It's because PC players don't need them with the extra accuracy we get using a mouse. Anything to "help" our aim is cheating...

I am a PC gamer, and I can tell you that from my own expeirence, the tactics/ quickness you learn from playing COD MW2 on PC makes you a freaking machine on the console versions. I have a friend with the Xbox version and a friend with the PS3 version, and I can tell you that I do things on there that I never do on PC. My reaction speed is so much higher than the people I run across on consoles. I am not boasting or anything b/c the PC version is where its all at : No jokes, I consistently go through games on the console versions where I get 30+ kills and maybe, MAYBE 6 deaths. My friends are always like, man you are a ****ing beast. My reply: LOL this console **** is easy you noobs need to come play PC, I never do this good on PC. On the pc version I do very well, usually 1-3 on the team, maintaining at 2.8 kdr atm.
Oh, and All I do is snipe(well use a sniper rifle)... I don't camp tho. Mobile sniper

All of the air support you call in on the PC get shot down in less then 10 seconds, because there will always be some sniper with a stinger and CB.
I do believe the PC gamers have more skill then console gamers, because of the quick scoping etc. Aim assist is aim bot on the computer :D

I feel opposite, my dropshot is much better on PC since on consoles, crouch and prone are bound to one button. Here i just tap Ctrl and drop straight to the floor
I have 25+ nukes on PC i don't feel it's hard at all. All you really need is a 7 killstreak without opposing air support, but lately my CG's get shot down rather quickly. I've been better off with AC130 since its a little harder to shoot down.
My biggest gripe on pc is that i've never gotten or seen anyone get a nuke without being called a cheater. Most fps veterans can look like a cheater in kill cams..

I get accused of wallhacking regulary simply cause i know all the common spots for capping a HQ so can wallbang people easily, was once accused of aimbotting while using a chopper gunner and killed someone with cold blooded pro, if the idiot paid any attention to the game he would have seen his team mates spawing around him. The hacking is hardly as bad as people make out. It is very clear that most players have no idea how to identify hacks. I get accused of aimbotting/wallhacking/ESP every single day.
I see at most 3 obvious aimbots/wallhackers in a week. Many weeks I don't see any.

A lot of the so called "hacking" is just a result of the piss poor netcode that this game uses, and the lag that goes with it :(
