Hi!
I have had this issue since the start of 2009 (approx) and I am so sick of it.
Whenever I start up Call of Duty: World at War (PC Version) it says 'Can not Connect to Online Service' and I can't play online at all. 1/5 days it does work though but I am tired of having to play singleplayer because the online doesn't work...
Does anyone have any solutions? My internet connection is fine. I have tried turning off my firewall, I have restarted my computer loads of times and still it doesn't work.
I really hope this doesn't happen when I get Modern Warfare 2...
Thanks in advance. :)

This also happened to me it was virgin media national that was at fault (my ISP) i could still surf email ect but playing games was a no go I spent a fortune phoning them over a couple of months still no better until i changed ISP never had a problem since so dont rule out your internet it could be the cause, however first you need to make sure you have done the ports forwarding in your router and given your pc a static ip and allowed WAW and PB through your firewall instructions to do all that can be found on this forum or in Funkymunkys help thread

Thank you for your reply. :)
Can you please give me a link to Funkeymunkey's help thread or to any thread in this forum which would help?
Also, is there any chance that this same problem will happen to me on Modern Warfare 2? This problem doesn't happen with COD 4, or any other game I have.

I used the website to forward the ports manually and it didn't work.
I also don't want to pay to get the automatic port forwarding program which I found on that website.
Can you recommend any other free port forwarding software? I can't do it properly manually.

Use this link (http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm) (same as the second link kebab provided), select your router, skip the advertisement (link in top right of screen to skip), select the game, then follow the step by step instructions... Will probably take you about 10 minutes... :)

Ok, I've done that and it seems to work! :)
Although, it does say 'Can not connect to online service' sometimes, but a lot less often than usual!
Thank you very much, both of you. ;)

I dont know anything about consoles but first off is you connection good enough to host I do however know that just like us PC users you also may have to forward ports in your router and put the console in the DMZ in the router
