Auto Shotty....anyone?

I think I can count on one hand how many times I've seen someone use this piece of garbage. I tried using it a few times, mostly indoors obviously, and I find that the pump with doulbe tap, grip and steady aim is IMO waaaay better. Anyone ever use this?

Hmmm, I personally prefer the M1014, I think both shotguns have their pros and cons, here is what I think.

M1014 w/Sleight Of Hand:

Very good for unleashing a quick 4 slug burst into an individuals back. Sleight Of Hand ensures that these four slugs are reloaded and ready for use short after. However, the M1014 isnt too good at dealing with multiple enemies in one area because of the small clip size. Although if you are up for administering a quick kill without being too fussed about getting blasted yourself then this is a good weapon.

W1200 w/Double Tap:
The 7 slug clip size ensures that you wont run out of bullets to quickly when dealing with multiple enemies, the double tap perk also allows you to 'pump' a slug back into the chamber for firing. However, unlike the M1014 with quick, semi-automatic killing motion, you have to be sure you have a kill because if you miss, your opponent is sure to turn round and spray you with 12 bullets in your chest. So if you pick your kills then this is the shotgun for you.

Bah shotguns.. never use them. The few times that I have, it's only on vacant because it's easy to kill someone then go around a corner for protection while I reload. Other than that, I usually go even or negative when I use a shotgun. But Black-Hawk-93 explained it very well, and if I did use shotguns, I would probably use his setups.

I prefer the pump in almost all situations, the Auto-Shotty is one of those weapons you use when you're bad with most others. Anyone can get kills with it, a pump is more powerful and will be a lot more reliable overall.

CountlessCookie, please may I correct you? Don't take this offensively but I believe that the auto-shotty is as reliable as the pump. I personally think it requires the same level of skill to use, pump requires skill in the case that you need to choose your shots to make sure you do the job, whereas the auto requires you to kill, hide effectively and reload which can be difficult in crowded situations.

I don't believe anyone can get kills with it, maybe more people find it easier to kill with the M1014 but that doesn't mean it's unreliable.

I will admit they are a cheap weapon, just cuz the enemy has no chance of fighting... but the way i look at it, is everyone has access to what they have unlocked... most ppl have all the upgrades/guns unlocked, so its all fair game... this game is a shooter and a strategy game. i love both shotguns... pretty much any game with a shotty is awesome (halo's shotguns are tight too)

I prefer the 1200 myself. It has more power than the auto and decent range for a shotty. I personally don't care how many kills I get - its all about quality of kills and having fun using weapons I wouldn't normally use. I can get dozens of kills using the M16 all the time, but where is the fun of that? Don't be afraid to try new guns, you might find something you like.

the m1014 is way better cause for some reason when ever is shoot the dude in his face wit da 1200 he has jugernaut and doesnt die so he turns around and i am dead with i shot of his ak47

I think the M1014 has the same range as the 1200, can someone confirm this as I am not at my console right now? And I agree, its fun to try new weapons, and it shows skill if you can use a variety of weaponry to attack the opposition.

I think Ac Dice dude has a point.. It's a fun weapon to use, you've got to choose your targets & get close, not always an easy task. I find if you add the extreme conditioning perk this gun owns in crossfire, i have racked up headshots legging it past claymores & doing snipers in the head on the balconys.......you know who you are!!

I think the shotguns are great, except that you have to be close. Other than that, they are probably one of the best weapons in the game. Basically one hit kills (not counting the damn juggernaut). That being said, I'm still not going to use them.

I usually dont like the shotgun unless I am playing on shipment, I tend to get shot at long range on other maps. There is a nice shotgun review COD4 Shotgun Analysis | COD4SOURCE (http://cod4source.com/cod4-shotgun-analysis) which basically says auto shotty is better than the pump action one. As for shotgun perks you can never go wrong with martyrdom because you will be in so many close range encounters.

The shotty is one of the funnest guns in this game. If anyone is interested in a shotgun only match, let me know. It actually takes some skill to use this weapon.

Yeah i'm up for a bit of that Dice man. Apparently there is a clan called the "Boom Boys" & all they use is shottys...they kick ass by all accounts!

I've had about equal success with both, M1014 really needs Bandoleer to be effective though.

I think they should have relative ammunition for each class, not based on magazine cap, which sucks for short magazine weapons like the bolt-action snipers, G3/M14, Skorpion, and M1014.

It's taken a while but i'm really getting the pump action working well, I find you need to get a little rhythem going, blamo! let it reload, blammo! Repeat. If you rush it too much or just hold the trigger it goes to pot & you die in a hail of lead... :mad:

When it goes well, you'll enter an area full of potential victims & when the dust settles a few seconds later you'll be the only one standing :lol:

AC Diceman has it right!! I wouldn't say that I can rack up a bunch of kills with any gun, but trying different guns and different set ups is allot of fun. I've been sniping allot lately and find that head shots with a sniper is really cool.
So any sniper with over kill and a shotgun for moving around would be fun to try.

The Shotguns blow but i definitely prefer the W1200 over the M1014 i tend to double tap my trigger so 1014 sucks when u gotta keep reloading after each kill or two
