This guide was inspired from Bigskippy's "guide to getting killed alot"

http://cod4boards.com/user-guides/124948-how-get-killed-alot.html

Although I know this guide was for fun and laughs, it actually had some good stuff in it. I also noticed a trend to the guides for noobs (me), since i read them alot, that they are all for what TO DO, not too much on what NOT to do. Most of this applies to all match types.

So new peeps, I have put alot of effort into sucking at times, so pay attention, its hard damn work...lol

DO NOT:

1) ...Stand still...in the open no less. If you are not moving, you are easy to kill. I know you have a choice kill in your sights, but guess what? You also have become a choice kill for a sniper or someone that is seasoned with any weapon with decent range. Also, when in a shoot out with some-one face to face. Standing still ='s insta-death. Try weaving a bit, jump, or do something. There is no perk for a force feild. This also applies to throwing grenades, sniping, shooting an rpg, reloading. If you must stand still, do it in cover or leanr to perform some fo these on the move.

2) ...Chase a player for too long. I know it is sweeter to knife them in the back, but if you have them in close range and they do not see you, kill them as quickly as possible. Most likely if you are chasing someone, someone is chasing you. Get the quick kill, let the sweet kife backstabbing kills come naturally.

3) ...Play pin the tail on the donkey..."Krip, what does that mean?"
It means do not chase the enemy's ass with your automatic weapon while sighted or scoped. While sighted you can not catch up to them. You are better served firing a few rounds dropping your sights, adjusting, then firing again. Too many time I have died, even though I got the jump on a guy. As I aim, he moves from the window. I then chase him with my desparate spray of bullets while sighted in a circle. While he kills me with a pistol or knife. It looks like a bad 80's action flick where the hero runs and there is a hail of bullets hitting the walls and ground chasing behind him, but he never gets hit.

4) ...Throw grenades at a guy running at you ...Throwing a cooked grenage maybe, but just chunking a grenade at someone that sees you (sniping especially), or is coming at you head on is just dumb. (assuming you are not timing the grenade ie: cooking it) I think Inertia has a thread on tactical grenades. Read it. I leanred some stuff in it.

http://cod4boards.com/cod4-ps3/118904-using-grenades-tactically.html

Just dont throw at movement. Chances are they are no longer where you threw the 'nade. Try leading the enemy, especailly when he heads down a way that has only one entry and exit. Getting tactical with grenades is better than just spamming with them any day

5) ...Set claymores so close to your position...Why? Because ding dong (speaking to myself) if you can see the claymore, and the person, you can still shoot them. I use to set them close to me, and I was getting shot by someone getting just outside its range, but still able to see me. Aslo while sniping, setting claymore too close to your position do you no good if it doesnt kill the person. i use them as an early warning system, if i get a kill out of it, thats like found money.

6) ...Attempt to kill someone in close quarters with you automatic weapon..or section (3) will happen. Use your knife. 8 times outts ten this will work better in a hallway. Or especially when someone suprises you coming around a corner. use common sense, do not run at a guy at the end of the hallway and attempt to knife him (guilty) Im talking about in a tight space and some one comes in a door way.

7) ...Run blindly into known sniper dens Most likely there will be claymores. learn these places, learn where they place them. Pretty simple right...

8) ...Fire multiple shots are one person while sniping or with an unsilenced weapon...while attempting to be concealed. One shot kill, two shots maybe. If you plan on staying in that spot for more than two kills.; All someone has to do is follow your red dot like bread crumbs (TDM FFA) the guy in the corner with the 50 cal that cant hit Sh1t, emptying a clip at someone will be dead soon. If you miss, you miss. Do not get so focused on that one guy. Have patience. You may get the kill, but all you did is seriously compromise your hiding spot. "Seriously" meaning you have drawn alot of attention, and will be hunted at that moment and for the rest of the match.

9) ...Run out into the open...this seems basic, but damn how much do i do it? I do it alot without thinking. I know when i am sniping you are my bread and butter. Crossing an open street is dumb enough, but sometimes a neccesity. But running straight down the middle like a noob parade? Come on..think a little.

10) ...Go back to the place you just died at, or the place the kill cam showed you were shot from Most likely the person that killed you is still there, or he has moved to another spot to where he can see you hunting easter eggs and skiddishly looking around corners for him.

HONORABLE MENTION: DO NOT

...under-estimate your opponent, and know your strengths/weaknesses When you're good you're good. You know what level of player you are and Im not talking about your little ranking icon. I guess what I am saying is do not get laxed. When you let your guard down and start getting over confident, you can go upside down in kills to deaths real quick. Your 6th prestige level 51 doesnt mean crap when you do stupid things and get shot in the back.

Ok so there it is, my first official guide. Of coure these are guidelines not rules and this changes with the situation you are in. I tried to list things that I did/do alot of on all maps and match types. Let me know what you think.

I wish I would've read this first or found these boards first before ever playing.. Maybe it would've saved the numerous screams of me saying, " I can't believe I got KILLED againnnnn!!" LOL Thanks!

The only time I ever throw a grenade at someone who can see me is when I know he's n00b. When I do this I try to hit him with the grenade just because it's so funny. If you get a kill by hitting someon with a frag, or a stun/flash/smoke without it exploding it will be one of the funniest moments you'll ever have while playing this game. It's just so rewarding, but also unfotunate that anyone who has a slight amount of skill in COD4 will just dodge and skrew you in your ass.
