Acog-whats The Point????

i noticed that the ACOG scope on a sniper rifle lowers its range and you cant hold your breath for increased accuracy. but people like to use it, can anyone explain to me why?

idn why i use it on m40 or 50 cal but it is just good if you get used to it
it is like using a g3 or m14 with acog but it is a 1 shot kill and you can see uav screen when you zoom

yes i like to use it on the smgs but people are saying on snipers.....to me all it really does is not you able to hold your breath, less zoom, and less range. to me those things are negatives. but jmass222 says that the uav map is viewable on zoom, i think ill stick to the regular one.

does it give less recoil or anything special? or should i just stick to the regular scope?

on the M40 it produces the rifle to do 105 damage isntead of 98 (standard scoped damage meter) so it alsmost makes it a 1 shot no matter where u hit them, very rarely does it not kill with acog, and also it is hard to get used to the moving scope and its awkward firing technique u ahve to fire under the little pointy arrow, but just by a bit /o\

i dont really understand why it takes 25 headshots to get it. the acog and red dot should be switched around. red dot doesn't take up te whole screen like the acog does. and the red dot is more accurate.

its good for sniper rifles on smaller maps, and its really good on an M16, because the ACOG takes away accuracy, and it barely phases the M16, because its the most accurate rifle...

I seen lots of ACOGers on M40, I guess it works well if you get used to it, but me, no, cant use it for toffee. I tried and tried but for me, a reg scope produces best results.

I use the acog on the M16, very deadly after you get used to it for medium to long shots.Only drawback is sooner or later as you move around you will have some close shots very fast and if you aim and your target is moving sometimes you lose him. I try to shoot from the hip instead of aiming for this , works 50 / 50.

You just proved my point of peripheral vision loss, the sight is very narrow, therefore a reduction in vision is made. Thats one of the reasons I don't use ACOG.

Once again the ACOG takes practice to use but with most snipers it is a deadly combo at close, medium, and sometimes even long range

it only beats regular snipers at close - medium range unless they're pathetic with the gun and you get chance to let the acog roll into them (i dont do this obviously i usually use steady aim with my acog as it makes close ranging with a sniper absolutely brilliant as the steady aim pretty much only surrounds the player. best shot ive ever done with stewady was on creek i was in the middle on the large mound and some guy ran down the hill next to flag B on domination and i just popped up placed the aimer near where hed run and fired hit him right in the side of the head ;) sent me a msg telling me he'd reported me for glitching =(

Lol i love using steady aim and no scoping headshots, but yeah the acog is pretty good and many people hate but dont try it so whatever lol

steady aim for snipers is a waste really...ur better off just switching to ur pistol or whatever else ur using as a backup and kill them that way...i can see steady aim w/ like a dragunov, m21 or even .50cal, but really its pointless...
o and on a side note...i saw a kid last nite using a ACOG on his m40 and he had iron lungs on it...LOL...i did make fun of him when we got back into the lobby

actually... if you have x2 tap on a G3 when you buy this certain controller, it shoots faster than an MP5... so thats prob. wat he had.

I agree 100%, i overkill it with the g36c, bando, and steady aim. its amazing, mostly because it takes two shots to kill anyways.
On topic, people use it because it takes less time to kill someone, you pull it up into scope faster and you dont have to waste time holding your breath, just scope in, aim, fire.
Plus, even with the reduced range, you can still kill someone from across the map.

You think it's hard trying to line up a shot with a ACOG scope? Try it on a R700 WITH ACOG, ain't easy, alot of drift, yet it's my favourite rifle. I've missed a few headshots with this but, some timing helps a ton.

Acog has quicker zoom in time (i think) and i dont like holding down my breath. I always hold it at the wrong time, and when the scope goes round from breathing out the guy then comes out aswell.

I use ACOG on the m40 with stopping power. Using that set up is like using an AWP from CS, which just plain owns. Being able to quick scope is a major asset in survival

ACOG's turn LMG's into automatic sniper rifles.

First bullet is pinpoint accurate and if you learn to control recoil you can place dozens of shots on a single spot.

Good for mowing down multiple enemies at long range without having to re-aim for sniper shots.

Good for Anti-sniper fun.

Game stats are wrong, it does not decrease effective range. THINK ABOUT THE LOGIC PEOPLE! A different scope means less range, of course that makes sense. WHAT? C'MON PEOPLE, LISTEN TO COMMON SENSE!

i like the acoge on the 50cal, when you play aggressive like i do you need to be able to shoulder your weapon quickly so it helps alot on the 50cal. I only use it on two weapons the 50cal and the M16A4 the automatic one if i didn't get the name right. Other then those 2 i like the red dot.

really, the ACOG is a great scope, but I wouldnt use it on a sniper rifle, its unneeded and really pointless (probly hurts more than helps). I love it for LMG's though.

well for me i say ACOG only on a sniper and on things like Assualt,Smg,Lmg i use red dot site. shotgun i use grip. but i mainly snipe to be honest and i always use ACOG. you can see map so if people are shooting you can see them of they have no silencer on it.

It's only used if you want to perform some close-medium range snipes. It will work long range as well, but not as good.

I only use it when I'm running around and sniping.

I've only ever used an ACOG scope on the M16 and M21 before today... when I decided to put one on my .50cal for a laugh and ended up using it for a couple of hours on every single map I played. Man, that thing is awesome! Bodies were dropping lamf and around 50% of my kills were headshots (which may not sound like much to some people, but I probably average around 10%).

It comes up faster when aim down the site. Quicker scope =quicker kills. If you still don't know why people use it after reading all of thse posts you haven't given it a chance to help your game. It has it's advantages on given maps. Great scope.

Snap Sniping. Fast zoom speed, i'm not too used to it yet, i prefer true sniping. But an M21 with ACOG is an M14 with more range and less recoil

hate the Acog....lol i can use it, and VERY well, i just prefer to be a good sniper, and use the "true" sniper.....mainly becuase i think the acog is cheap and dirty.....

with ACOG on a sniper rifle, especially an automatic one, its best, because it has more viewing space, and the sensitivity of the movement when you move the gun around while steady aim'ing.

I pretty much only use ACOG on my M40 (only Sniper Rifle I use). Enables me to quick-scope, and takes more skill to use, not to mention a damage boost that only applies to the M40, rendering it the most powerful gun in the game. Overall, it just makes it a more mobile gun, close range is no longer a fear - but a relish.

Also, ACOG on the M4 Carb and M60 is godly.
